Full Paths and Where You Are

Drive letters, current directory, and Explorer as a partner.

Full paths are street addresses. Relative paths only work from where you stand.

Most Windows pain is not “I cannot code.” It is “I thought I was in that folder.” A full path is the address that still works when you paste it into Win+R, Explorer, or a script.

Move without guessing

pwd
Set-Location D:\Projects
Get-ChildItem
Test-Path .\README.md

Type explorer . to open Explorer at the current folder. Copy a path from Explorer’s address bar, then Set-Location "D:\paste\here".

Field House rule: when you tell a human or an agent where a file lives, give the full path they can paste into Explorer.
