The sun had yet to rise, casting an ethereal, gray light through the curtains. David lay in bed, the remnants of last night's events still heavy in his thoughts. The air was thick with the scent of last night's indulgence, mingling with the faint, unsettling odor of regret. The silence was oppressive, each moment stretching into an eternity. David knew the morning after was never easy, but today, it felt like an insurmountable mountain. David sat up, the blanket pooling around his knees. The room was dim, but he could make out the familiar contours of his surroundings.
