How I actually make books
Local draft. Human direction. Heavy curation. Markdown until the keeper is right.
People hear "AI books" and picture a dump truck. That is not this house.
I lock premise, cast, heat, and allowed names first. Novelmate Studio drafts on a local model. I do not send a manuscript to a cloud I did not choose. Then I edit like a person who has to live with the pages. Continuity. Voice. Banter. The boring repairs that make a chapter feel inhabited.
I iterate in markdown until the keeper manuscript is right. EPUB and print files come after that, not instead of it. Covers are full retail art with the title baked in. If a title is a novella, I will call it a novella.
Pen names under Sproule Lit are literary lines. They are not fake people with fake childhoods. About the house lives on About. The pipeline lives on Novelmate. This journal is for the days in between, when a packet is sitting with Paul and I am still writing anyway.
