Opening sample
First pass from the workshop. Not the ending.
The street in Edmonton was a canvas of muted grays and blues, the kind of quiet that only winter could conjure. Snow dusted the ground, each flake landing softly and then melting into the frost-hardened pavement. The city was a ghost town, the few passing cars leaving only the faintest of rumbles. Sam stood by the curb, his boots crunching underfoot, the sound echoing in the stillness. His fingers tingled with the bite of the crisp air, and his breath formed a fleeting cloud before dissipating.
