Opening sample
First pass from the workshop. Not the ending.
The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting a pale, unsettling glow over the small accounting firm's interior. Margaret Sproule, a woman in her late fifties, moved methodically through the stacks of files, her fingers tapping gently on the keyboard. The hum of the office was a constant, soothing rhythm, broken only by the occasional rustle of paper or the soft click of the filing cabinet doors. Margaret’s neatly pressed dress clung to her frame, the fabric smooth and unyielding. Her hair was pulled back into a neat bun, the only concession to her age.
