Opening sample
First pass from the workshop. Not the ending.
The crunch of snow underfoot was relentless, a rhythmic reminder of the weight of the world outside. Laura gripped the handle of her broom, her shoulders aching from the strain of pushing it through the towering drifts. The air was cold, a sharp bite that seeped into her bones despite the layers of clothing she wore. She glanced at the towering snowbank that blocked her driveway, a fortress of white that seemed to mock her efforts. Laura's gaze swept over the street, where the snow lay thick and still, a blanket that muffled the world.
