Opening sample
First pass from the workshop. Not the ending.
Alex trudged up the walkway, the chill of the evening air biting at their skin. The house loomed ahead, a familiar yet unfamiliar presence. The front door creaked under the weight of their hand, a sound that echoed through the silence like a warning. The scent of dust and old books wafted out, mingling with the faint, musty smell of decades-old furniture polish. The sound of leaves rustling in the nearby trees added to the sense of dislocation, as if the world outside had shifted while Alex was away. The door gave a reluctant groan as it opened, revealing a dimly lit foyer.
