Opening sample
First pass from the workshop. Not the ending.
Leah stood in the center of her new living room, the hardwood floor creaking softly beneath her feet. Boxes stacked against the walls like silent sentinels, their edges worn from handling. The air carried a crispness, hinting at the approaching winter, and the scent of pine and dust mingled in the air, a reminder of the apartment's previous inhabitant. The faint hum of the city outside filled the space, the distant honking of cars and the occasional bark of a distant dog adding a layer of noise that was both comforting and isolating.
